On April 22, 1998, Animal Kingdom opened at Walt Disney World with 35,000 guests allowed in to celebrate opening day. My husband and I were two of them. I purchased this opening day watch in the park that day. The park’s logo has been changed a number of times since then, but this watch has the original park logo of an elephant, a dragon and a triceratops. The limited edition number of these watches is 710.
On the front it reads: Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Opening Day April 22, 1998. On the back around the edges: “This original collectible art was created by a Disney Artist”; “@ Disney Japan Movt,: In the center is Disney written in script with a hand and pencil.
The watch is in excellent vintage condition. It has never been worn and has only been out of its case to be photographed and to receive a new battery. It has the one-year limited warranty card (expired, of course), and the original presentation box. The brown leather band is marked “Disney” and “Genuine Leather China.” It has a gold-tone metal Mickey on the band end.
The pictures offer greater perspective on the vintage nature and condition of this 1 in 710 limited edition, never worn watch in its original case. (NOTE: I have a red camera and on some pictures you can see its shadow or hue; not metal discoloration).
