Vintage Signed Hollycraft Unusual Mid Century Christmas Tree Collectible Pin Book Piece
This not-often-found Christmas Tree pin is featured on page 75 of Nancy Yunker Trowbridge’s book, Christmas Tree Pins, albeit with different colored stones. At the time of publication in 2002, the author lists the value of this pin in the $75-95 range, and groups it under the date range of Hollycraft trees from l948-l965.
On the back of the pin in block letters is the maker’s mark, “© Hollycraft.” The Hollycraft name was used on jewelry from l948 through the late l970s and was a product of the Hollywood Jewelry Manufacturing Company. During that time the Hollycraft brand was especially known for its quality, designs, and Christmas tree pins.
This mid century Christmas brooch is in good to very good vintage condition. Generally, I see its condition in the very good category for 50-60+ years of existence with intact and bright rhinestones, a strong and well working pin, and better than average wear for its age. However, there is one “good” aspect worth noting. Two smaller rhinestones are slightly askew, one purple on branch two (left) and a green on branch six (right). This is noticeable under a jeweler's loop, but they are still securely attached. But as a collectible Christmas tree pin, I leave any decision about re-gluing, should that be necessary at some point, to the next owner. My lower pricing of this pin is reflective of this slight issue.
The pin is comprised of small and larger multicolored rhinestones set in a textured gold tone metal with an open branch style and an antiqued look. It’s 2 3/8” high and 2” wide. As a collectible Christmas tree pin, I’ve left it in the condition found; no cleaning or adjustments have been made by me. The pictures offer great perspective on the vintage condition and beauty of this signed Hollycraft Christmas tree pin.
