This rare find angel tree is large and dramatic, a Christmas statement piece. It was part of a jewelry collection I purchased from a collector’s son and was delighted when I found this brooch designed by Anthony Attruia, featured on page 13 of Nancy Yunker Trowbridge’s book, Christmas Tree Pins, which was published 2002.
On the back tree stem is the marker’s mark, blurred and worn. It appears not to be the mark Anthony Attruia used from l999-2002 which is a castle with the name “Attruia” underneath. This mark, then, dates the tree to an earlier time. While Attruia worked for the Swarovski Company for many years, he also designed independently using his own Swarovski crystals. This piece is one of them.
This rare find large Christmas tree pin has three gold tone angels set against emerald-green large prong Swarovski crystals, and an angel on top with a tipped square outlined with clear rhinestones. The old world look is dramatic and memorable.
Measuring 3.5” tall and 2” wide, this unique Christmas Angel pin is in good to very good vintage condition. The “good” part means there are elements of the brooch that show average wear for its age. That includes some tarnish on the back and edges, a worn marker’s mark, and the “C” clasp that is missing its spinner, but it still holds fine. Overall, however, this unique Christmas tree still leans to the overall very good vintage category with bright and intact crystals and rhinestones and a dramatic presence and craftmanship. The pin has a substantial feel to it and would be a wonderful addition to any collector or Christmas enthusiastic. The pictures offer greater perspective on its vintage condition and Christmas charm.
