Eisenberg Ice Vintage Signed Christmas Brooch | Enameled Sleigh with Tree and Wreath | Santa Sleigh Vintage Pin | Book Piece
This delightful Christmas brooch – a Santa Claus Sleigh filled with a Christmas Tree and festive wreath was part of a large collection of Christmas pins I purchased from the son of an decades-long collector. On the back is the maker’s mark, “Eisenberg Ice” in block letters, a mark used from l942 until the company closed in 2002.
Eisenberg jewelry had the reputation as “the best of the best” in jewelry houses, according to the author of Nancy Yunker Trowbridge in her 2002 book, Christmas Tree Pins, who notes that Eisenberg “did not design Christmas pins until the l950s.” This pin is featured on page 53 of her book. It is also featured in Jill Galllina’s book, Christmas Pins Past & Present, on page 136. At the time of their publication over a decade ago, the pin was valued in the $35-45 range.
This bright Santa Sleigh is in very good vintage condition. Set in a gold tone metal this enameled red and green pin has three clear rhinestones on the tree. This pin measures 1.75” in length and 1 3/8” high. The stones are bright and intact; the pin and clasp work well, and the metal is shinny. The pictures offer greater perspective on the vintage condition and holiday nature of this Eisenberg Ice brooch. (Note: I have a red camera and on some photos you can see its hue or shadow; not metal discoloration).
